Career Changers: are you tapping into who you really are?

Thursday, November 29th, 2007
“Every object, every being,
is a jar full of delight.
Be a connoisseur.”
 Rumi
As we humans search for meaning in our careers and our lives the main choice we have to make is on whether we are expressing ourselves authenically in the world. The quote from Rumi about every being is a “jar of delight” is profound. The problem that usually happens when people are not happy in their careers is they are not able to be their authentic delightful selves at their job. They are too busy making a liveing vs. making a life for themselves. Desiring a career change or being unfulfilled at work is a huge sign that a soul awakening is about to happen, IF you allow the shIFt in your perspective to take place.
So, IF you are one of these people who is deperately seeking a career change, it is time for you to turn inward and ask some questions that can create ShIFt Soulyoutions TM in your life and your career change!
Here are five ShIFt Assist TM Coaching questions:
1. Who am I?
2. How am I happiest expressing WHO I AM in the world?
3. What is stopping me from radiating my delight in my fullest self-expression?
4. What unique gifts do I possess that I am not using?
5. How do I shine in my magnificence?
These are deep questions that may require some time alone to just be with yourself. I suggest that you take time with these. Perhaps take a jacuzzi or a bath and ponder these questions. Or meditate on them in silence and see or feel what answers come to you.
IF you take the time to shIFt from being unfulfilled to figuring out what it is you need to do to feel delight, miracles can happen!
Blessings in your career shIFts,

Meditation on Gratitude ~ Can Create ShIFt!

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

”At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.
                                             ~ Albert Schweitzer

Meditation on Gratitude is a wonderful thing. It can create HUGE shIFts and changes in your career and in your life. Here is a wonderful excerpt and a beautiful meditation from a NEW BOOK called Luminous Mind: Meditation and Mind Fitness written by Joel and Michelle Levey, two wise and spiritually evolved people I admire.

 ***************************************************
“Both ancient teachings and modern medical research agree that one of the quickest, most direct routes to restoring harmony and balance in our lives is to foster gratitude and appreciation. The moment you shift from a mindstate of negativity or judgment to one of appreciation, there are immediate effects at many levels of your being: brain function becomes more balanced, harmonized, and supple; your heart begins to pump in a much more coherent and harmoniously balanced rhythm; and biochemical changes trigger a host of healthful balancing reactions throughout your body.

In the healing ways of indigenous people, the restorative power of gratitude was well understood. A heart filled with gratitude generates actions and prayers that complete the circle between the gift offered to us, the receiver of the gift, and the sacred source of the gift. To offer prayers of thanksgiving is a gesture of rejoicing in discovering the many gifts that life brings us. Here is a practice we often teach as a way to dwell in gratitude and thanksgiving:
**************************************************
Sitting quietly, shift toward dynamic balance with a few minutes of mindful breathing. Bring to mind someone for whom you are deeply grateful. As you breathe in, take this person to heart. Breathing out, let your heartfelt gratitude shine deeply and brightly to them and through them. Continue for as long as you like, letting each breath take to heart a loved one, a friend, someone who has been kind to you, someone who is teaching you patience or how to forgive. Let each breath shine from the depths of your being through the depths of their being in order to light up their life with your love. Taking your eyes, your ears, your hands, your intelligence to heart, bless them in a similar way with the heartfelt radiance of your appreciation. Whoever or whatever comes to mind, gather them into your heart, one at a time or all together. Taking these many gifts to heart, complete and affirm the circle with gratitude, assuring that the stream of blessings in your life and in the universe will be unbroken.”
– Excerpted from Joel & Michelle Levey’s new book Luminous Mind: Meditation & Mind Fitness  and also in our book Wisdom at Work
********************************************
As a shIFt coach, I wanted to share this precious information. I hope you all are able express your “attitude of gratitude” during this time of Thanksgiving that we celebrate in our United States of America.
Acknowledge all your gIFts in your shIFts and all the people  and your animals that you love and are grateful for. As Joel and Michelle Levey share in their message quoted above, you can create and manifest unbelievable shIFts in your career, relationships and life… by just demonstrating that you are appreciative and grateful!
Have a Blessed Thanksgiving! Blessings in your shIFts in your career and your life!
With Gratitude and Thanksgiving!

Career Change: Your Soul is calling you…

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

Are you feeling like you are living in the rat race in the business world, on that perpetual wheel, running, running and running and you feel like you are going nowhere and just getting burnt out?

Are you feeling exhausted or depressed? You know that things just are not working out the way you had hoped in your career? You know deep in your soul that you need a career change, but do not yet how, what is next for you?

Well, IF these are feelings that you are dealing with, it is time to evaluate and shIFt what you must next, to create a career change for you!

Have you ever thought that your soul is calling you to do something that fulfills IT? Do you know that you are a beautiful spiritual being having a human experience… and that your soul came here to Earth to do something wonderful? C’mon it’s true, really it is!

We all have some special talents and gifts that we are able to shine at and IF you would just allow your gifts to shine through you, you may feel a whole lot better. Are you using these gifts you possess?

These gifts show up as things you would sometimes “rather be doing” (than work). Sometimes they show up as hobbies or extra-curricular activities. Sometimes they are ways you may like to show up as a volunteer.

Are you gifted in writing, speaking, some form of art, healing or technical things?

What jazzes you? What do you have so much fun doing that it makes your soul sing?

Some people just love being with children and are happiest when they can interact with children, and make a difference in the life of a child. If you are one of those people, are you doing anything that gets you around children?

Here are some ShIFt Assist Coaching tips:

1. Look back at your history and write down everything you have ever done. Try to remember what things brought you the most joy.

2. Write down what you are drawn to doing. Do you have something you wish you could do, but have never tried?

3. Write down people you admire who do things you wish you could do. They could be celebrities or they could be people in your life that you know.

Do you understand what I am getting at? We all have things that move us at a soul-level, but sometimes when we get into our jobs or careers, we do not even think about paying attention to what moves our soul. We are more concerned with how much money we can get for doing a particular task someone could hire us to do. Or we are trying to please our parents or someone else by working in a career that they wanted us to work in.

What IF you came from an understanding and belief of “IF you do what you love, the money will follow?” Try that one on. Could you believe in that?

Well, I am here to let you know that IF you pay attention to your soul calling you to make a career change, you really could stop feeling depressed, burnt out and exhausted. That is one way out of that misery.

Doesn’t it make sense to put yourself in a work situation where you are experiencing joy doing something that fulfills you at a soul level?

It makes sense to me. I am writing this, because I have been in that miserable place in my career. I call it being “knee deep in shIFt” TM. It is a place where I experienced a “soul awakening” at the time. Then when I came to understand that I was not in a career that fulfilled my soul, I created a drastic career change and left the old one behind. I was making a 6-figure income in the old career too.

All in all, it is about you feeling that you are worth it. You deserve to work in a career where you are using your gifts.

Believe in yourself! Take action today on that career change. Your soul is calling you! I call this experiece ShIFt Soulyoutions TM. You need to as the IF questions to ShIFt YOU at a soul level to create the solutions in your career and ulitmately your life. Only YOU can do it!

IF you need help in your career shIFts, hire a coach to help you. That is what a  most coaches soul’s calling is. Life and Career Coaches are all about supporting and guiding people to believe in themselves enough, to take the appropriate action, in order to create life shIFts to enhance their lives and fulfill their dreams.

Blessings in your career change and life shIFts,

Got Career Depression? 3 Tips for ShIFt!

Friday, November 9th, 2007

Got career depression? That feeling where you do not want to get out of bed in the morning, you absolutely hate Mondays, and you cannot wait for Fridays? That feeling where you cannot even get excited about life…you maybe have even thought about or are taking anti-depressants?

So many people are in this place in their careers and they do not know how to get out of it, because they need the money to pay their bills and live.

I remember being in that place. It was very painful. I call it the “Dark Night of the Soul” instead of depression. It is the time where your soul is “Knee Deep in ShIFt TM” and it is letting you know that it is time for something to change. It is bored with what you are doing. It is unfulfilled. It is also called “Divine Discontent”, too.

You can try to ignore your pain when you are in this space, but the more you try to ignore it, the more miserable you can become. You can just go deeper and deeper into that dark hole.

This is the time in your life to take inventory of what is important to you in order to make changes in your career.

Here are some questions you can ask yourself? It is best to answer these questions without thinking about money. Just dream and use your imagination and see what kind of answers you get. And…be positive when you answer. Do not allow that negative critic to get in your way!

1. What would I rather do that would fulfill me at a soul level?

2. Is there a skill or talent that I have that I am not using?

3. What is it about my current job situation that is the true cause of my discontent?

4. When is enough, enough?

5. What choices can I make right now to make appropriate changes in my career?

Explore your answers to these questions. Remember, you do have a choice on whether you want to live in a career with misery or live in a career with joy.

You will know when you are ready to shIFt out of that misery. Only you can make that decision. IF are so stuck and are having difficulty making decisions due to FEAR BLOCKs, that is a sign that you may need the support of a coach to guide you.

I wish the best in your choices around your career changes!

Blessings in your shIFts,

Career Change? Or attitude adjustment?

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

“Wherever you go…there you are.” ~ Ancient saying

There are so many people out there that are unhappy in their careers? They think that just finding a different job or working for someone else is always the answer.

It is human nature to think “the grass is always greener” some place else than where they are. While, certainly people can move out of a difficult job situation and successfully create wonderful changes in their career, sometimes it would be much easier to just create an attitude adjustment for a shift in your career, where you are currently working.

How can that be? Well, the saying above is quite profound. ”Wherever you go, there you are…” suggests that you bring your issues, baggage, dramas and energy wherever you go.

Here’s an example: based on the “law of attraction”, where like attracts like, even IF you get a job elsewhere to get out of a bad boss situation, you still may attract a similar boss with the same ability to push all your buttons. That is not fun! But how can that happen? It could be caused by your attitude, your thoughts, your energy around “authority figures”, “managers” or “bosses.”

So, say you are a person who has trouble with authority. You cannot stand your upper management. You have lots of reasons why your manager just is lousy at managing people and you think, IF that manager would just not be there anymore, you would shIFt and be much happier.

Well, there is another way of shIFting your perspective on this. This person may be pushing your buttons, but perhaps instead of pointing your finger at them, look at the 3 fingers point back at you, when you are pointing and see what you did, or how you think, that may be attracting some of this “icky stuff” that is coming you way.

Here are 5 ways to shIFt and adjust your attitude to create a career change right where you are by asking the IF questions.

1. Ask yourself IF you are someone who is easy to work with. Are you someone who is willing to do what is asked of you, or do you often put up an energy of “resistance?”

2. Ask yourself IF, you are somone who tends to look at the negative side of things. Do you complain a lot to others? Do you gossip and cause trouble?

3. Ask yourself IF, you wake up each day thinking how you can serve your manager, your organization and its customers? Are you there to serve others, or are you just caught up with yourself?

4. Ask yourself IF, you are going to your job and giving it your all? IF you use your skills and talents to their fullest?

5. Ask yourself IF, you are compassionate to your management and other co-workers? Are you compassionate with yourself?

The honest answers to these questions will help you discover what you bring to your work situation everyday. Remember, “wherever you go, there YOU are…” So, who are YOU when you go to work?

Do you need a career change or just an attitude adjustment? IF you shIFt your attitude, you may be very shocked how much your carreer changes right where you are!

Blessings in your Career ShIFts,
