Commentary on the Murder at Wal-Mart on Black Friday 2008!

Hello Friends:

Many of you may know, and some of you may not know, that on Black Friday a man who was 6ft 5  inches tall, who was an employee at a Wal-Mart in New York, got trampled to death by 2000 people who cared more about getting “a deal” on something they were buying in the store…who cared more about saving Money and getting an object that THEY WANTED, than they cared about a human being (or all the human beings that were impacted). There were more than one person who were trampled on that day…1 man died.

I heard a woman who got trampled, interviewed on a radio show the day after it all happened, and she said that the people knocked the doors down before they had a chance to open the doors. I do not know about you, but what I do know, is that I find it horrific that this type of thing happens in our modern day. I received this audio commentary from Guy Finley on “The Murder at Wal-Mart” topic today and I felt his message so compelling that I wanted to post it on my blog to forward it. A HUGE SHIFT IN HUMAN CONSCIOUSNESS needs to happen…still.  A huge shift needs to happen about our human mentality about the Holiday Season and what each holiday, whether it is Christmas, Hanukah, or Kwanza is supposed to be about.

I hope you can join me in that shift, by TAKING THE TIME (20 minutes) to listen to Guy Finley’s profound message on “The Murder at Wal-Mart.” There is a reason why that man died…let’s honor him in the lesson that might be learned from his death. Let’s start with ourselves to create that human shift within our being to create the ripple effect for the obvious shift that needs to happen.

Adding Time to your workday to enhance your career!

Do you know how much time you spend checking your e-mails in 1 week? I heard some research had been done on this particular question and the answer was, on average, 8.5 hours. That is a lot of time that takes you away from your “productivity”. Some people may think that e-mails are part of their productivity. However, we all know how time consuming checking e-mails throughout the day can be.

So, IF you want to shIFt the amount of time that you spend on e-mails, here are some tips that you can do to save you a lot of time.

1. Only allow yourself to have 1 -2 times in your work day, where you schedule in time to check your e-mails.

2. Decide how important it is to respond to each and every e-mail or if it can wait FOREVER.

3. Evaluate who you are receiving e-mails from and IF you do not want to receive e-mails from that person, call them and let them know that you would rather communicate via the phone or voice mail. ( IF possible…it depends on the circumstance in your career or if you work for someone else or a corporation)

4. IF you are an entrepreneur, and you get a lot of e-mails from being on a lot of  e-blitz or “internet marketing lists”, evaluate whether you really are opening those e-mails or receiving any value from them or not and IF you are not…UNSUBSCRIBE from them.

5. IF you have the luxury of not having to spend a lot of your time behind the computer, to do your work, then turn your computer off for most of your work day and only check your e-mails once in the morning and once in the early to mid-afternoon. That is what I have been doing and I really feel a shIFt in my energy and work productivity, since I have been doing that.

Many people use the computer as a “companion” to feel like they are being productive by being on it…but sometimes it can just be a time filler or a time waster. It is important to evaluate how much time you spend e-mailing and IF you can shIFT to be more productive in your career, by spending less time on e-mail.
